The harder line..

Much of Luke Warm's early work was on social and political themes and published in newspapers and magazines. His first regularly published cartoon was a political cartoon strip 'And so on..' which appeared sporadically in Phoenix magazine in Dublin in 1980-1. Then in 1985 he won a competion in the Guardian newspaper with a cartoon about the ongoing famine in Sudan and Ethiopia. From 1990-2 his social and political cartoon strip 'Fence Sittin' by Luke Warm' ran weekly in Mmegi newspaper in Botswana, jointly winning the Botswana Press Trust Cartoon Award.

From 1994-6 award winning cartoonist Luke Warm drew a weekly editorial and opinion cartoons for the Times Higher Education Supplement THES in London and from 1997-8 drew frequent Opinion cartoons for the Sunday Business Post newspaper in Dublin (many of which were Photomontages).
